I'll start by noting that I don’t have a TV or Chromecast since I just moved out again. I didn’t realize I’d need one for a while, given my powerful PC (5800X3D, 7900XT) and a 32" 1440p monitor. A headset would also be handy. If I want to watch movies or TV shows on this setup, there’s no real reason I shouldn’t be able to.

In fact, most streaming platforms (Disney+, Apple TV+, Youtube Movies) don’t allow streaming above 720p unless you switch to a TV, which isn’t an option for me. Or I could stream them on my phone, though that feels awkward with a 32" screen. Online opinions suggest this is likely an attempt to block their IP addresses, though it seems ineffective—especially since I’ve paid for full resolution.

Is there a possible solution? Maybe a specific browser or attachment that would let me stream content in high quality? I can’t even rent a movie from YouTube without it looking like it’s being played over dial-up.

The simplest option is to purchase a Firestick. This works well since you can easily sync and watch all your subscriptions during sales.

Is it simply connected to your screen and transmit video from your mobile device? What mechanisms enable this process?

The device doesn’t have a TV, but the trick would be using your audio output. Since you’re already on a TV setup, simply connect it to an HDMI port, set that port as your input, and use the remote control. You’d log into your Amazon account and install apps like Hulu or Disney Plus, then sign in through those services on the Fire Stick.

You might also consider Roku devices.

For audio from the Fire Stick, some research suggests it’s feasible to pair a Bluetooth speaker with it.

I possess an aged Apple TV connected to a 1080 monitor via HDMI. Audio emanates from the 3.5mm port on the monitor's back. It works perfectly, no issues. 4k options exist, within budget.

We have around four to five fire sticks. The main screen supports 4K resolution. It's good to know that connecting to a 1/8 inch jack is possible. I haven't had to link to a monitor before.

Going through my Denon AVR-X3500H and another in the master bedroom linked to a Samsung 55"TV optical out audio setup. PCs are just background noise. My wife lives in an assisted living facility, using those too. Ten residents across two homes.

Fire stick functions with any device it connects to for video or HDMI, and it also supports Bluetooth, which might serve as an audio option. The main issue I faced with this setup is the audio not syncing properly.
