Upgrading to an SSD won't be very obvious in Windows XP. The biggest changes you'll notice will be the CPU overclocking (which I'm trying to understand) and the RAM upgrade.

I understand all opinions are against me for overclocking IBM ThinkPad x40, r51 and r60e, but I do it only for experiments. The only one who has done it before is the ThinkPad r51, and with active overclocking and a high CPU load using Prime95 it doesn’t get hot beyond 80 degrees. Even with the original BIOS fan controller, if I use TPFan control at maximum settings it stays under 70 degrees. There’s a new exclusive YouTube video about overclocking IBM ThinkPad x40 and two other models I own. No one has filmed it yet, so I might be the first and anyone searching for old ThinkPad overclocking will have a good chance to find my videos. I enjoy overclocking any computer I can. I’ve done it with Core i5-3470 non-K and an iGPU too. The GeForce GT 730 was pushed to its limits until artifacts appeared, after which I stress tested them and decided whether to keep the overclock or lower it.
