Hi, I've recently upgraded my GPU from a GTX 770 2gb to an RX 580 4gb. All games have performed well except Minecraft. Before the change, I could achieve over 100 fps in Minecraft, but now it's around 60 fps with the RX 580. What's causing this drop?

Transfer it to an SSD or M.2 would be helpful

I hate to say it as an AMD fan, but Minecraft is a single core demanding game and whatever AMD specifically Zen 1 and before doesn't get along well enough with Minecraft. Until a few months ago I was using the exact same RX 580 4gb, it's a good card. Games are more cpu and gpu demanding over time, I perhaps never played Minecraft but I guess it is time for you my friend to get a newer cpu. Did you uninstall the old gpu correctly? It might have been that, you could try Intelligent Standby List cleaner to help with the lag and stutters if you don't want to get a new cpu or perhaps overclock the cpu a little more with the same voltage (to be on safe gorunds) using Ryzen master also you could use optifine which helps Minecraft setting overall. I am inclined to believe that if you uninstall and re-install Gpu drivers would help or fix the problem.

Thank you for the guidance. I believe I did uninstall the NVIDIA driver properly and installed the AMD alternative.

I think it's time for the CPU to retire. If you're worried about changing it, just let me know that a R7 2700 would probably cost around 100. Playing games like Minecraft would give you another 3 to 4 years of fun.

I was actually planning on making a completely new build in general. I've been buying parts here and there. But I can't really complete it until the RTX 3080 is in stock. So I've just been chilling with this build.

RTX 3080? Nice... You might rely on free tools to assist with your MC challenges until you acquire the final part for your new setup, which drive is used for MC storage?

You have an SSD as well—perhaps try running Minecraft on it. The 60 FPS might also be due to AMD FreeSync. Could you share the refresh rate of your monitor?
