What makes a better monitor for online gaming?
I'm trying to choose between the two monitors I own for online gaming.
I don't mind visuals or color quality, as long as they respond quickly to my controller inputs—so every little tweak matters.
I have the LG 22MK400H and the HP EliteDisplay E233.
I was hoping one would perform much better for my needs, but so far I've been let down and prefer the other one.
Just wanted to hear what gamers think about the best option for my requirements.
Low input lag, fast response time are key.
Thanks for any advice.
The LG screen would be ideal for Freesync and achieving a 1ms reaction time.
The HP display would be the least suitable due to its lack of Freesync or Gsync and a 5ms response time.
Both options are decent, but the LG screen stands out as the superior choice for gaming.
I hope this helps resolve any confusion.
Well this is what I expected when I bought it.
I didn’t plan to use the freesync because I’d heard it could introduce some input lag.
I’ve configured the monitor without free sync and without v sync, which lets my games run at maximum FPS with minimal tearing—this is fine for me.
I’ve also adjusted the response time to Fast, which makes ghosting more likely. All typical issues that affect input/response have been turned off, and it’s set to 75hz, which is 25hz higher than the HP.
Still, on the HP it feels much more responsive.
I’m curious if the fastest setting isn’t actually higher than 1ms, which would be even faster than the HP’s.
HP response settings range from 1 to 6, with 1 being normal, 2 fast, and then 3,4,5 without labels, and 6 being the fastest.
I’m currently using setting 5 for a normal feel without ghosting.
In short, there are three options on LG normal, fast, fastest, and I’m using the middle one.
On HP there are six choices, and I’m on five.
Something seems wrong because I can play well on the HP but fail or lag on the LG, especially with controller movements.
It’s really frustrating.
