I recently switched from Desktops to laptops in China, and unfortunately, some of the setups here don’t meet my expectations. It’s been a while since I stayed current with technology, so I’m eager to upgrade my laptop. The new one claims some improvements, but I’m unsure about the RAM type or how much memory I should add. I think it might use SODIMM, though I can’t confirm that easily because opening it is tricky. The photo I shared comes from a Machenike F117 F2U laptop purchased in China. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I searched for that laptop and found it running a 7700HQ and a 1050 processor. That suggests you’d likely need SODIMM DDR4 RAM for an upgrade. It’s wise to check CPU-Z to confirm the details.

You're welcome on the advice. Based on your setup—DDR4 8GB single channel at 1197MHz—using DDR4 SODIMM modules up to 2400MHz from Hyper should be fine. The bus speed will constrain performance, but it shouldn't cause issues unless you exceed the supported limits. Just double-check compatibility with your motherboard and memory type.

The 1197MHz frequency isn't standard for DDR4, and it seems more aligned with DDR3 specifications.

I checked the wrong specification. It appears to be DDR4-2400, matching what I can purchase. I noticed only the DRAM frequency, not the bandwidth. Sorry for the oversight. Thanks everyone. Appreciate it a lot. P.S. I realize I only have the third slot available, but I’m confused about the first two since I opened the laptop and voided the warranty—before it expired, I saw the slots in the earlier photo.

Hey! Your laptop seems fine. Are you thinking about getting a new Machenike F117-VD1?
