What kind of motherboard are you looking for?
Hello everyone. I'm looking for a new MOBO, my current one's CPU fan header failed and I need PCIE 4.0. I'm aiming for a reasonable price but not necessarily the most expensive option. So far I've considered the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F for $249 CAD or the ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus for $239 CAD. I'm not very familiar with MOBOs, so I was hoping to hear what others think. I understand the B550 boards are seen as budget models compared to the X570 ones, so I wondered why the ROG is $10 more. Are there other boards around that price range or cheaper alternatives you'd recommend? Thanks in advance!
Looking for simple tweaks for your GPU/CPU and PCIe 4.0 setup. You have a 3800 and want a 3080 soon.
If you have some extra funds, I suggest the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro WiFi. It's a great choice for most standard X570 motherboards.
They share the same VRM (12 silicon 639s). The main distinction is that the X570 uses Gen 4 boards throughout, while the B550 supports Gen 4 lanes and Gen 3 for the rest. Are there any restrictions on choosing one over the other? What power requirements are you considering? It's a 3800x, so both should work well, though budget and compatibility remain key factors.
There are also the Gigabyte B550 AORUS Pro & Elite, the MAG B550 Tomahawk, and the more affordable Prime X570-P. Most of the rest fall outside my budget. I feel most at ease with Asus' software, though I’m sure other options are easy to find.
The Aorus Pro and Tomahawk are decent choices, while the B550 Strix F stands out as a strong option for ASUS boards.
