I'm just checking if my loading times are typical. It usually takes 4-5 minutes to load and sometimes a disconnection error happens. Then it loads again in about 30 seconds. I usually start from the main menu, have GTA installed on a Samsung 960 Pro with 512GB NVMe SSD. It's odd that RDR2 Online runs faster on my PS4 than on my PC—my PS4 loads in 2 to 3 minutes max. Also, BF1 takes around 2 minutes for an online match, and it's also on the same SSD. The SSD has 219GB free space.

Switching to story mode then online appears quicker. I’ll check later when I have time, but it should take about a minute for SM to Online and roughly 90 seconds straight to Online on an 860 Evo.

Yes, I do this too. It's significantly quicker than entering directly into online mode.

I don't believe it's my connection, as I can handle 200mb/s. It's quicker when joining a solo lobby, though I usually start from the main menu. What's your typical loading time for entering an online lobby from the main menu?

Same here on an HDD. It can take 2-3 minutes if I load straight into GTA Online. Loading into Story Mode takes 25-50 seconds, and a populated lobby adds another 1-2 minutes. Sometimes the connection fails, which usually means the Rockstar servers are having issues. Trying again usually works about 85% of the time. About 15% of the time, you might need to try three or four times. It’s just a Rockstar server problem. Same with BF1 servers.

It doesn't really matter if GTA is installed on an NVMe drive; I think I'll reinstall it on my HDD. Rockstar, GTA Online and RDR2 Online have been facing issues with servers since the game's release and they still can't resolve them.
