What is your favourite Desktop OS?
I prefer Linux for unusual tasks such as servers or small projects. For everyday use, Windows is essential. I don’t just surf the web—I actually engage with software and need an OS that lets me control it effectively. While Linux offers more flexibility, it’s also more challenging to work with in practice (at least for me). I dislike Apple more than myself, which highlights my preference for something else. OSX is clearly out of the question, especially since I’ve used it regularly before and still don’t like it. Chrome OS isn’t appealing either; it works for browsing but doesn’t meet my needs. Otherwise, Windows remains my go-to, though not in a typical version you can easily obtain.
I run on MacOS, Linux in a VM, Raspberry Pi, and occasionally Windows.
It’s strange how others react when they mention “mac vs pc.” They usually mean something else. PC refers to a personal computer, so owning a MacBook Pro makes it a PC.
Manjaro Cinnamon is definitely my primary operating system for quite some time now.
Manjaro stands out in my opinion. Simple to set up and operate (no major driver issues) and includes Pacman. I attempted Linux Mint once but the installation failed (the installer wouldn’t load). I’ve also tried Ubuntu and Ubuntu Mate, which performed well, and Fedora on an older Windows Vista system before, which worked nicely. Since then, Fedora has likely improved, as I used it a few years ago.
