what is this on my network list? is my computer hacked?
I searched for this gadget and it claims to be an Android Auto device, but we don’t own one of those cars. It’s unclear why such a thing would connect to my PC. I also observed a recent event where a window flashed and appeared immediately in the network list.
I wouldn't think you were hacked... just take that device off the list and proceed. If it disappears completely, that's good. But if it keeps showing up, it might be something a neighbor accidentally connected to. It could be a mistake or an accident. Thinking about what it was or if it was hit by chance might help. If you're not sure, remove the device from your PC and reset your Wi-Fi password, then try again. Otherwise, just delete it and move forward.
Check the MAC address at macaddress.io. Do you use a secure password for your Wi-Fi network?
The issue seems to be the lack of Wi-Fi connection, visible only on my phone and PC. It appears as a separate device in the network list, appearing and disappearing randomly. Another odd occurrence is that the Android auto feature sometimes works, while at other times it shows an Amazon device—possibly one of our two Alexas at home (verified via MAC address).
That sounds intriguing. Are you using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth? Do you own a vehicle with Android Auto? Has someone nearby installed a new car recently? Do you have a smart TV or a TV receiver? Probably nothing to be concerned about.
I own both items, which are quite affordable USB 5 devices. As mentioned earlier, I don’t have an Android auto car, though my brother uses his phone with GPS occasionally. We also have a Sony Bravia Smart TV, and I’ve paired it with my phone via BT. I’m not too sure about the new car in the neighbor’s house—I haven’t noticed anything unusual yet. Everything seems to be in its place.
