Its one of those generic g41 china boards but theres an old xeon soldered to it? At a glance the listing looked like itd be one of those dumb g41 + 771 xeon quadcore combos but 10$ and course i gotta check it out only to find this abomination Even has some screenshots of the mobo being a g41 but what the hell is this s478? Xeon doing on this thing i mean i know there are some cursed s478 to 775 adapters around but those are unobtainium so s478 can work on 775 but how the hell do you even solder an s478 chip in place of a 775 socket without another cursed adapter? Honestly id be inclined to buy one of these just because of how cursed it looks

Recently I revisited the router upgrade from a few years back on LMG. They significantly boosted the power of their PFSense device (after the hardware change, they switched to an OPNSense box for better compatibility) and set up a similar setup for a Xeon CPU on a Supermicro board (including the case and server), but with more recent components and at least... "Intel approved" thanks to the precise etching on the CPU. I believe some Chinese users might face criticism for various reasons, but they clearly have impressive technical skills. Occasionally it seems like a fake ace, but who hasn't got character flaws?

I’m looking for affordable X79/99 boards. It shows they had some clever ideas, especially using old chipsets again. Reusing non-HDT chips might mean you can flash a Z BIOS onto a non-Z board, which could work for some purposes.

Doesn't that suggest I can work with a newer socket 604 chip? Well, I’ll definitely remember this when I decide to buy it—maybe once I have $10 I can go ahead and purchase it.

You believe you can mount a 604-pin BGA? Well, congratulations!

You only need a rework station, soldering tools, and a stencil. Maybe I’ll create one when I have some funds.
