It seems like this game feels very typical. I wouldn’t even consider playing it, even if it were available for free-to-play.

I haven't seen it yet. I'm downloading the beta now. If I like it, I might buy it. I've tried many top-down shooters that are just dull. I'm not a big FPS gamer either—mostly playing Rocket League lately—but BF1 seems intriguing.

BF1 does appear intriguing at times. I’m not as fond of BF3 or BF4 due to the abundance of assist mechanics common in today’s shooter style. I favor first-person shooters set during WWI or WWII, especially those avoiding lock-on features.
