I'm planning to create a new setup for another person using an Asrock B650M PG Lightning Wi-Fi. I haven't chosen the CPU yet—it could be from either the 7000 or 9000 line. For RAM, I want an RGB 6000MT/s 16GBx2 package. The budget is limited, so I'll go with CL36. The most affordable option I found is G.Skill Ripjaws M5, model F5-6000J3636F16GX2-RM5RK. It's available on the QVL but only supports XMP, not EXPO, and those models cost a bit more. They aren't listed for 8000 CPUs. I remember reading somewhere that some AMD boards claim to support XMP memory, but whether that's true is unclear.

There is. After all XMP = Intel Extreme Memory Profile.
XMP profiles may or may not work on AMD chipset MoBo.
EXPO is the highest chance of working, especially when RAM is from memory QVL.
XMP has less chance of working, but i'd still put it high, especially when MoBo supports it and RAM is from memory QVL.
Non-memory QVL RAM EXPO/XMP profiles working has 50:50 chance.
Have you looked at 4800 MT/s RAM? Since that's JEDEC and would work regardless. No need to mess around with XMP/EXPO. Also, RAM could be cheaper with lower CL.
Nice part is, that RAM can be easily upgraded at later date. (Just like e.g upgrading GPU or SSD.)

Asrock bios uses default configurations for XMP and EXPO, allowing it to handle OC settings uniformly across all standards. Ensure you're using the latest version, and manual adjustments are possible if needed.
