I recently purchased a brand new gaming laptop two months ago, and it has performed well so far (though it gets quite hot 😄). One day, while using a hardware monitor to check temperatures, I noticed my battery's wear level was at 18.8%, which seems unusually high since I wasn't sure what the average wear was for a new laptop. I haven't found any solid information, but based on what I've seen, this doesn't seem normal. I'm just asking to confirm whether this is typical or not and if it's something to worry about. Additionally, I should note that my laptop doesn't have a setting to cap the battery charge at 80% or 90%, but it does include a stationary battery mode for maintaining battery health, which I'm currently using.

It's the Medion Erazer Beast X40, a brand not widely recognized outside Europe, yet it belongs to Lenovo.

I experienced unusual changes in my battery's capacity readings and a sudden jump in wear level reaching 18.8%. To be precise, I've only used this laptop for about two months at most. Most users don't reach such a high wear percentage, even after two years of use, unless it's a gaming model.

I experienced unusual changes in my battery's capacity readings, followed by a sudden jump to an 18.8% wear level. To be precise, I've only owned this laptop for a couple of months and half to two months. Most people, based on what they've read, don't expect a battery to reach that level after just two years of use—unless it's a gaming laptop.

Are you playing with the charger on? If yes, brief charges often make the battery seem to have less power. Allow it to drain completely before using reserve and slow charging without connecting the laptop. Check if the app offers a reset feature.

Yeah, I always game with the charger in. I’ve been told to try and do a full charge and discharge because it might just be the computer misreading the battery, the person said I should do it three times and see if it updates, so far I’ve done it once and nothing. Also can you let me know what APP is and I’ll check please.

An app with the original operating system from the factory should be available. It needs to be reachable via a right-click on the battery icon in the taskbar. That's how it works on HP, or you can check the manufacturer's website for one.
