Hi there.
I've been working remotely since the pandemic began, relying on a work laptop. I use my gaming PC's monitor as a second screen and each morning I switch HDMI cables to connect the monitor between my PC and laptop. The issue is that I recently upgraded to a new PC and monitor, and out of concern for my HDMI port and convenience, I no longer need to juggle wires every day.

I don't want to use my mouse or keyboard with the work laptop, as I'm comfortable using the laptop's keyboard and have been connecting my mouse directly from the old PC. Before the new setup, my old PC and work laptop shared the same mouse. Now, with a new mouse, I just want smooth switching to the monitor without much thought. I'm also considering connecting my old monitor later for use as a second screen with the new PC, possibly as a third screen for work, though desk space might limit that soon.

I've explored HDMI splitters, KVM switches, hubs, and docking stations, but I'm not sure which is best for my needs. Splitters seem promising, but I'm uncertain if routing the HDMI cable through a splitter affects performance compared to a direct connection. I'm also unsure about the best brands or models.

Any suggestions would be really helpful.
Thanks.

The screen does not accept several HDMI cables at once. You can connect both devices and simply choose the input you want to show on the monitor.
