5500U supports SMT, whereas 4500U does not. A multithreaded CPU works fine for CPU-heavy jobs. Today's non-multithreaded CPUs seem unusual.

I believe the variation in single-core performance isn't that large, particularly with an extra 8 GB of RAM added to both Ryzen and Intel systems. It would be the same. Wouldn't you agree?
