Hello. I'm running Windows 10 and recently added two built-in applications: Paint and Paint 3D. The original Paint program seems to have been removed, leaving me with Paint 3D only. Previously, I could open it by clicking an image file and choosing "Edit." Now the "Edit" option is gone, and I'm stuck with "Edit with Photos" and "3D edit," which don't work the same way. Can I reinstall the program or is it no longer available on Microsoft's servers?

Have you looked for it in the MS Apps Store?

Do you want to know about the Microsoft Store? I searched for Paint but didn't find any matches.

It's strange, but I can still locate the Paint app on my computer:
https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/...n-us&gl=us

Is this a Windows version you've modified and which you got straight from Microsoft?

It was taken out because it no longer appears in the application list. You might try searching for it—it could show up then.

And now that I'm back, I checked to confirm Paint (excluding Paint3D and paint.net) is still available on my Win 11 machine. That's the same across all my Win 10 systems and virtual machines. What steps did you take to remove it?

Yes, I changed the operating system; all changes are valid and there are official guides from Microsoft.
The missing Paint isn’t due to the modification itself, as I made those changes a long time ago, but the Paint disappeared recently—not right after the changes were applied.
It appears the Paint was removed because it doesn’t work with my Windows version. Also, it isn’t available in the Microsoft Store since it’s incompatible with my OS.
Here’s the error message I received when searching for Paint on the Microsoft Store site:
"The version of Windows on your PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements for this product."

It seems Paint is blocked for any Windows OS older than Windows 11. You’ll need Windows 11 or a compatible version to use it.

My Windows 10 OS is 10.0.19044 Build 19044
My Windows 10 is Pro, but Paint was removed and is now only available for Windows 10, as shown above.
How can I still have Paint? Perhaps you’re using Windows 10 that hasn’t received the latest updates... and installing the newest update might remove it.
I didn’t take any action.

Win 11 Pro:
If you're truly keen, I'll boost my fully updated Win 10 Pro laptop to its maximum settings, and demonstrate exactly what I've done. And I did it after all...

FYI... on my fully current W10 pro rig, Paint is (and has been for a while) in the Windows accessories folder, together with IE, note pad and some other old programs. It doesn't appear in the usual app directory anymore, but a Windows file explorer search should still locate it...
