What is the method to automatically halt several Chrome applications upon restarting Chrome?
I experience frequent crashes and freezes in Windows Explorer, especially when interacting with the taskbar—producing an hourglass effect when hovering over it. It seems Chrome might be involved, though not necessarily the entire application. After clearing browsing data and cookies, only a few Chrome instances remain active. These crashes disrupt all open applications, making it difficult to access programs like Word or Outlook from Chrome. The issue persists even after closing Chrome and ending all related processes. Upon reopening Chrome, I encounter 16 or more running instances.
I have the following details:
Device name: HPEnvy1
Processor: 12th Gen Intel® Core i9-12900K at 3.20 GHz
Installed RAM: 128 GB (128 GB usable)
System: 64-bit OS, x64-based processor
Storage: 2TB and 20TB drives with minimal data
Despite these specs, I rarely exceed 15GB of RAM usage or CPU load when dealing with Chrome. The hardware appears adequate, yet the Chrome process management remains problematic. There seems to be no straightforward solution beyond repeatedly deleting browsing data and cookies. No other methods have resolved the recurring reopening issue.
Could there be a specific tool, setting, or app that can help limit the number of processes when Chrome is launched again? I’ve tried various online resources without success. Please let me know if you can assist further. Thank you.
