For efficient resource use and low RAM consumption, XP is the best choice. However, putting Windows XP on today’s computers isn’t recommended—it’s better to opt for a more recent operating system. Stick with Windows 11 for the latest performance.

Ensure you're running Windows 10 for DX12 compatibility. Windows 11 works well and is stable, but sticking with 10 is safer.

Reported in the Tech News that MS isn't allowing you to carry keys forward anymore. It seems they might be limiting it to 7/8 keys or stopping 10 keys from working for 11. Regardless of the details, it's not a good situation. I agree with @aisle9 and would prefer the latest version if you're paying full price. I've experienced no problems with Windows 11 so far, and I've been using it for months now—let me verify when I got my 7980XE (the first CPU with TPM support that lets you run 11). It looks like I purchased it in October 2022, which is about a full year later.

I verified the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11 during the PC build in Fall 2022. It experienced some initial challenges but has improved significantly, particularly after the major update in Fall 2023. So far, I haven’t encountered any Blue Screen issues with this new setup.

Currently, the value of a Windows 11 Pro license is minimal unless you require additional capabilities. You can examine the differences in features between Windows 11 Home and Pro on Microsoft's site, as well as Windows 10 Home versus Pro on HowToGeek's platform. https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/...o-versions https://www.howtogeek.com/871831/windows...me-vs-pro/

When connected to an HDR display, it's clear that Windows 11 works perfectly. The Auto HDR function performs very well; I've had to disable it in a few games, but overall it's outstanding.
