I’m purchasing an ASUS ROG Strix B450-F II board that doesn’t come with built-in WiFi. I need a Wi-Fi adapter or alternative option, ideally under $100, since my budget is limited.

Based on my observations, avoid the tp link archer series as it often causes connection drops and instability. The ASUS dongles are also problematic—they run very slowly. I've tried them in a few builds recently and they performed well without any issues. They're not costly either. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-pce-...88-as.html

You might consider allocating $100 to the updated B550 model that includes built-in Wi-Fi. https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-ROG-B550-F-M...382&sr=8-1 Note: This works only with 3000 or 5000 series processors.

A B550 could be quicker and steadier compared to the A7000, depending on the context.

Note that this is a USB stick, not a PCIe card, and therefore may have slower speeds and connections. This one should be faster and just better is general: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Bluetooth...ics&sr=1-3 I have recommended it to a bunch of friends who built PC and ended up in the same situation as @Octonion2 These cards seem to work fast and with excellent and easy driver instillation. However, if you have had a different experience, please let me know!

Onboard wifi has its drawbacks, yet it still offers decent performance worth enjoying.

It's definitely preferable to have it installed rather than using a PCIe 1x slot or USB port. The stability should be similar, and possibly even higher since it's not tied to a component you can easily replace.

Fun fact, your archer series has been performing well... Any issues with the driver?
