What is N-type memory?
The SAS controller features a slot with a "PC2 6400N" memory module (666-12-ZZ). It's a 1GB, 1Rx8 configuration, but other sizes are also available. What does "6400N" refer to? I couldn't find clear information online about this term. Can the SAS controller function without memory?
Usually the RAM serves as a cache, which isn't strictly necessary but can greatly boost speed. It likely refers to a narrow configuration, since the raid cards often appear to use a 32-bit memory bus instead of the standard 64-bit. It's also typically excellent performance.
