Thanks for your message. I tried to ease my mind. It seems like I might have applied too much thermal paste. I spent 1600EU on a PC and had issues right from the start. My CPU temperature was too high—expected around 30 degrees, but it was much higher.

You're overthinking it. Just take out the heatsink, wipe off the thermal paste, and reapply it. Put it back in place and finish the job in under ten minutes if you're new to this.

Only a minimal distance between the heat sink and the coo is necessary. The main goal is to fill in irregular areas. Adding extra material will actually reduce the efficiency of the heatsink. I think you're likely adding more on top of what's already there. "Pea-sized" indicates the total size should match our smaller requirement. Rely on the manufacturer for the correct specifications with their OEM heatsink.
