I believe the issue lies more in deception than anything else. If the intention was clearly stating that consoles are budget options and we prioritized visual quality over resolution and frame rate, people wouldn’t be so upset. Instead, they’ve spread misinformation, claiming low specs are the standard and trying to make everyone feel like their experience is being diminished. That’s not fair.

watch dogs suffered from poor quality, inconsistent performance, and artificial settings that felt forced. High-quality options were locked off without clear justification. The game ran at a frustrating 30 fps, with noticeable clipping and pop-ins, plus weak AI behavior. There’s no reason to release such a product in this condition. The developers should have addressed bugs and microtransactions before launch. Their DRM restrictions are confusing, and they seem more focused on monetization than player experience. uplay’s issues are even worse. Embargoes delay reviews, making it hard to assess the game fairly. PC gamers are being dismissed with biased remarks, while EA appears more consistent. Recently, Origin has offered some solid free titles, though BF:Hardline still stands out for its polish and bug-free release.

I strongly dislike uplay, yet at least Ubisoft differs from EA by not claiming widespread usage beyond Steam. They also don’t remove their catalog from Steam.

1) Spreads false claims about console power, FPS numbers, and resolution. Claims PS4 can run PC ultra settings in Far Cry 4—clearly misleading.
2) Attributed PC ports to understaffed, cost-cutting efforts in Kiev. Performance issues were real; the company failed to deliver.
3) Made exaggerated promises about tricking pirates. The game was released early, before the official patch, and Ubisoft misled customers. Marketing targeted paying players who were disappointed by previous titles.
4) Repeatedly blamed AMD for poor porting (Nvidia Game Works), citing fake benchmarks and biased sources. Some outlets amplified these claims while others ignored them.
5) Continued to criticize AMD performance on high-end cards, despite evidence showing otherwise. Many experts and users pointed out misleading comparisons.

The aspect that really caught my attention was their handling of the PC port for watch_dogs. It wasn't just poorly optimized at release with weak DRM (uPlay), but the worst part was locking the original E3 2012 graphics settings—provided with the game—to match console versions, then pretending it was done for performance when in reality the performance gap was negligible across many systems. Above all, the poor choices Ubisoft has made recently this year mean that one incident deeply offended me, highlighting how much they neglect the PC platform and its community.

They operate solely for profit and will exploit you if opportunities arise. Past success with gamers doesn’t guarantee future favor. TLDR: forming trust is tough and breaking it is simple. Their actions reflect their own interests, not your best interest.

It's not about poor programming or rushing the game. That's not the goal. The focus is on money, large amounts, and constant fixes from the start. Far removed from the original experience. Examples like Far 4 + ACU and Watch Dogs show this perfectly.

It would be wiser to assume less value until their review holds off and a usable version emerges. Though I understand the "UBISOFT KEEP ON DIGGING LOL" remarks were bothersome, Ubisoft has recently shown more than enough disrespect for the fair Unity review process. Their actions were clearly hostile toward that process, which should prompt strong reactions from anyone who cares about transparency.

Ubisoft has evolved into a fully next-gen enterprise, aiming to surpass EA with cutting-edge innovations. They’re likely to acquire assets from competitors soon.

They faced some tough challenges recently, mainly through their statements rather than major failures. I believe they’ll recover eventually, though they haven’t shown any improvement yet.
