What is a DisplayPort to DVI converter?

It’s not ideal for performance and stability. Using a displayport-to-DVI converter can cause issues with graphics drivers and may lead to visual problems. Stick to integrated graphics or a proper graphics card if possible.

It'll be fine. nothing wrong with that. (I'm doing that now) The converters don't really have anything to do with the OS either.

Used HDMI to DVI adapters many times on older projectors. DP and HDMI connect directly, while DVI delivers a complete digital signal identical to both DP and HDMI.
