I could handle mirroring even without using a mouse, though it would feel very strange. There must be a method, but it would be quite uncomfortable.

So you're looking to watch TV and pick a video without a mouse, likely using a remote with arrow keys, buttons, and Back/Return, OK/Enter. Then you'd probably prefer a UPNP/DLNA client/server instead of modern apps like Plex or Jellyfin.

You might use a KODI UPNP/DLNA client on your smart TV to connect to the media server running on your PC. It's free and straightforward to set up.

Enable the UPNP/DLNA feature in KODI:

You'll also need Universal Media Server, which usually comes with the necessary Java runtime:

I downloaded Plex and I'm learning how it works. It seems to function properly. Can I achieve a similar setup across multiple computers using a home group?

Trying Plex now works, though not perfectly. Overall: I'm quite satisfied.
Thanks.
