What happens when you try to speed up your new CPU?
Hey everyone, so here is my computer setup: an Asus ROG Strix Z390-E mobo, a 9700k CPU, a Corsair H100i Platinum AIO cooler, a 2060K GPU from EVGA, 16GB of RAM from GSkill Titan RGB, and an 80+ Gold 650W power supply. I also have a Segotep Argus case.
Recently, I overclocked my CPU to 5GHz using what I thought was fine software, but now I'm seeing some weird behavior. When I run Realbench while watching the clock speed in HWInfo Monitor, all eight cores are going at 100% power, and the clock only goes up to 3.9GHz instead of my target of 5GHz. I really don't get why this is happening.
In my UEFI BIOS, it says "Target frequency" is set to 5000MHz, but that's not working. Here are the steps I took:
- Synced all cores to 5GHz and turned off Multicore Enhancement.
- Disabled CPU SVID.
- Set Digi+ Power Control settings for LVL 6 loadline calibration, set CPU current capability to 140%, and set voltage to manual (1.30V).
- Maxed out the Short and Long duration times in internal CPU power management controls.
I've been doing this way too long now, like seven years without overclocking. I also changed my operating system from Windows 7 to Windows 10 for this first time. If anyone has any insights on what's going wrong with the clock speeds, please tell me!
