In short, I had a 2x2 RAM setup that kept beeping and failing. After trying different combinations, it became clear one slot wasn't working with both sticks installed. I ran the PC with just 2 GB of RAM for a while, which didn’t help much. My technician checked and found both RAM modules were dead, possibly due to a mistake from me not being careful enough. He suggested replacing them with a DDR3 4 GB stick, but it seemed like a scam since my motherboard only supports lower speeds. I was unsure about the exact specifications, but I wanted to avoid buying something too expensive online. My questions were: does the motherboard have a way to stop the beeping codes? What caused both RAMs to fail at once when I turned it on? Was there a cheaper, reliable 4 GB DDR3 stick available? And what does scratching the RAM with an eraser actually do?
