I haven't encountered pop ins in years... (i'm also quite selective about the games i enjoy, though that isn't the main thing i look for) I need a device with strong performance and fast sync to avoid any stuttering.

It seems like you're expressing strong dislike for open-world games. They remind you of something from years past that you find unpleasant.

It clearly exists beyond just disk loads; there are other factors at play. The problem lies with the game itself, regardless of your hardware or software features. Stuttering occurs even with different systems.

I don’t see it happening in most of the games I play. Fast sync really does help, and it seems to work well with my 3D chip.

You're definitely selective about your gaming choices. That’s probably the main reason, not just fast-sync. I also don’t experience any stuttering with standard G-Sync and when playing games that don’t naturally have it. Some titles (like UE5) can be tricky because they have built-in stutter. And those UE5 games often deal with traversal stutter—where loading a new area takes a few milliseconds. It’s most noticeable in open-world experiences, especially those with fewer loading pauses. Still, I’d say these minor issues are better than having many long loading screens. Bethesda titles add both traversal stutter and an overload of loading screens. And as I mentioned before, pop-in isn’t a big deal in most games now. I rarely see it in newer releases. Nanites isn’t a perfect solution for eliminating them, but it’s definitely superior to the old LOD approach. What bothers me the most are ultra-low-resolution distant terrain textures, like those in DayZ or Skyrim.

These are mainly UE-driven titles that still face problems with movement lag in new areas and initial asset loading because of shader compilation delays. Progress is being made, but the issue remains significant and requires further attention.
