I was checking the Linux discussion and didn’t see a post about why someone uses Linux. I’m currently running an older system for OwnCloud on Ubuntu Server. What are you using Linux for? A server? A daily driver? I’d love to know!

I employ it for comparing performance against Windows—so far it hasn’t been a strong choice, but I’m confident we’ll reach this goal

I have several Linux servers, but I rely on Linux for most of my devices. I use it for web browsing, music editing, 3D modeling, video editing, documents, slides, and general tasks. I don’t use it for gaming (except Steam IHS) or for SolidWorks/Autodesk.

Most of my gaming isn’t supported on Linux, but the rest of my experience is pretty solid. I’m mainly into using it for learning and programming, mostly on my own with a bit of guidance from my dad. I’m also exploring Linux more broadly, and it’s nice to step away from Windows for a change.

All except when I must rely on MS Office for school, I can't use Google Docs or other specialized programs. Edited September 14, 2016 by flowalex Spelling
