I would like more personal tweaks on the start screen and different window themes—white feels too harsh for my preferences. I swapped the Recycle bin image with those from Windows 7 and renamed "This PC" to "My Computer." So far everything is working smoothly. The upgrade included many applications, but I plan a clean install next weekend. First, I needed to activate the PC using a Windows 10 key. I’ve noticed Windows 10 doesn’t include my Adobe CS6 Master Collection or Quicken in the start menu; I had to manually add them to the program folder. I really appreciate how Windows Media Player now supports FLAC files directly. Edge needs better extensions and more settings to compete with other browsers, but it’s still quite fast. Overall, the system performance has significantly improved. It will likely get even better after the clean Windows 10 installation next weekend.

I plan to purchase a PC this week with Windows 8 installed. Upgrading it for free is possible.

You must act by July 29th, 2016. I’d prefer to get Windows 10 directly and handle any problems myself, keeping a clean disk without worrying about reinstalling once the upgrade deadline passes, especially since hardware specs will have changed.

Upgraded once and initially thought it was a terrible, poorly made product. After a fresh install most issues disappeared, though the everyday experience is far from smooth—there are occasional stutters, lockups, and some frustrating compatibility problems with DisplayFusion that makes apps open unexpectedly when you log in from sleep. Overall, it feels similar to version 8.1; I've adjusted the start menu to resemble a home screen, but the search feature now doesn't work well. It's been running steadily for a few weeks now.
