I'm facing issues with the R9 280 when playing Witcher 3 on Ultra settings, even after overclocking. It worked fine without water, foliage, or Hairworks. Still, I hit around 24 FPS in forests. I lowered the resolution to 900p, but it didn’t help much. Eventually, I upgraded my card further and increased the clock speed from 1100Mhz to 1175Mhz. My performance jumped from 24 to 31 FPS, staying above 40 FPS most of the time! While benchmarks only showed a small gain, my minimum FPS on Witcher 3 rose by about 30%. This is the only game I've noticed such a big boost from VRAM speed. How does this game handle VRAM so well? Have others experienced it?
In tests, every resource is already loaded, which means it's shown much more clearly.
Recheck the information carefully. It seems the statement is about performance improvements linked to texture units and memory speed.
It seems the graphics card handled things well with only 1.5Gb of VRAM. That makes sense as a solid explanation.
Currently, 1250 MHz performance isn't ideal for memory usage. Latest graphics cards often reach around 1750 MHz.
