Good afternoon, everyone. I’ve had my CPU fail and am considering a replacement. The original cost was around $230, but it’s now listed near $300. What processor would you suggest? I’m planning to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 later this year, so that’s something to keep in mind. (Apologies if this isn’t the right forum, I wasn’t sure which section to post in).

PCPartPicker has a CPU list: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, 3.8 GHz, 6 cores.
CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken Z63 98.17 CFM liquid cooler ($249.39 on Amazon).
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B450-F ATX AM4 ($129.99 on Amazon).
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB DDR4-3200 CL16 ($162.99 on Corsair).
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM ($54.99 on Newegg).
Video card: MSI GeForce GTX 1050 2 GB ($396.25 on Amazon).
Planned upgrade: moving to a Ryzen 7 later.
Case: Corsair 275R Airflow ATX mid-tower ($79.98 on Amazon).
Power supply: Cooler Master Extreme 2 475W ATX ($79.98 on Amazon).
Total cost comes to about $1073.59, including shipping and taxes. Prices are based on current listings. Generated by PCPartPicker on 2021-01-11.

Perhaps a Ryzen 5 2600x? I understand it's from an earlier generation, but it's more affordable (especially in my country) and offers the same number of cores and threads. Its boost clockspeed is 0.2GHz lower than both the base speed and the 2600x model.

You could simply use the standard 3600, around 199.

Great! Thanks for the details. It looks like a solid opportunity—worth checking out the comparison. The 3700 model is a bit on the higher side, but the 3600 seems to fit better with what others mentioned.
