Greetings everyone, I am a resident of Iran and would like to inquire about the potential impact of internet social media usage, specifically Instagram, on my enjoyment of online games. My internet connection currently provides a speed of 4 Mbps, resulting in approximately 400-500 kbps download speeds – a significantly lower rate than what’s available in many other nations, due to limitations imposed by local internet service providers. When my computer is idle, I typically experience a ping of 70-100 ms. However, when other devices are actively using Instagram on my network, the ping rises to 200 ms before returning to 100 ms. Could this be the primary cause of these latency fluctuations, or is there another explanation? (Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive)

Using a network connection characterized by significant latency and limited data transfer rates would naturally lead to disruptions in online gaming performance.

Have you considered utilizing a different Domain Name System (DNS) server? Options like Google DNS and Open DNS are accessible without cost, although their performance may differ depending on your location. Switching these settings within your router could improve speeds for all devices connected to your network, or you could adjust them specifically on your computer.
