The tale goes like this: back in 2013, I assembled my gaming PC with an Intel 3570K processor, an Asus p8z77-v pro, a MSI GTX 660 Ti, and 16 GB DDR 3 RAM (G-Skill Ripjaws). Since then, I upgraded the graphics card to a GTX 1070 Ti and overclocked my CPU, but the rest of the setup remained unchanged. Today, everything still functions well, and I play games much less frequently than before, so upgrading isn’t necessary for me. However, I enjoy the chance to play occasionally.
I’m planning to move to the US soon, and I sometimes face a CPU bottleneck when running more demanding games. That’s why I’m thinking about upgrading my CPU and motherboard (and possibly the RAM if needed). I’ll also need to replace my PSU, as we’re using different outlets now.
I’m not very familiar with hardware updates, so I was wondering if you could share your thoughts on possible options.
Regarding the PSU, I don’t require anything advanced—just a reliable unit that meets my needs without breaking the bank (I’d prefer not to spend more than necessary). Right now, I have a 350W bronze model (though I’m not sure of the exact brand).
For the CPU and motherboard, I’m trying to stay within a budget of around 300–400 USD, but ideally something solid that lets me upgrade my GPU later without having to start over.

Here’s what I came across:
- The memory offers 5600 MTs, while 6000 CL 30 is superior.
- The motherboard isn’t top-notch but isn’t terrible either; alternatives exist. Review them and consider x870 boards for AMD as well. Base specs match. For better value, look at x870e and x670e (similar features), priced between £250 and over £1000.
- The Ryzen 7600/7600x are the foundation for the latest AMD CPUs, with 6 cores and 12 threads. The Ryzen 9600/9600x is the newer version, offering similar performance but lower power consumption.
It’s wise to upgrade your PSU and match your requirements with the GPU you choose. GPUs consume a lot of power!
