What causes the PC to display a black screen with the motherboard's CPU and DRAM indicators illuminated?
My gaming PC often shows a black screen after playing high FPS or graphics-intensive games for over 30 minutes, with unresponsive mouse and keyboard, though the system remains powered on and spinning. During these blackouts, the CPU and DRAM indicators illuminate. Could anyone assist in diagnosing the issue?
Remove your RAM and reinstall it to test. If that doesn't help, try one RAM only and see if it works. Look for the faulty stick using basic logic. Also, does your CPU get hot during games? Please check the temperatures and let me know. Finally, how old is your PSU and what model does it have?
I've attempted to swap the RAM sticks, but it didn't help. The peak CPU temperature during gameplay stays between 65-70°C. My PSU is five years old.
My other components include a
Amd Ryzen 5 5600 3.5Ghz 6 Core L3 Desktop processor
ASRock B550 Pro4 Motherboard
ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 Twin Edge OC
T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 3200MHz (PC4-25600) CL16 Desktop Memory Module
Crucial P3 1TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe, CT1000P3SSD8
Additionally, I purchased these items roughly four months ago.
After checking more closely, it seems the PSU might be the issue here.
🙁
The PSU isn't from a well-known manufacturer, especially not one that offers quality parts. It claims 700W, but a decent 700W unit from brands like Corsair would cost significantly more than what you're paying. With such low-quality products, the components are likely subpar. After five years of use, it's a shame it still works. Consider replacing your PSU with a better one and see how it performs. I'm fairly certain the PSU is malfunctioning. For longer-lasting and smoother operation, opt for a reputable brand this time.
