What causes the CPU voltage to be unusually high?
I'm using an i7-6700k with an ASUS Maximus VIII motherboard and a Corsair H100i v2 cooler. I recently overclocked and the BIOS shows my CPU voltage at 1.232V, while ASUS ROG software (Dual Intelligent Processors 5) lists it as 1.488V to 1.504V. Which one is correct? I only overclocked to 4.6GHz and have water cooling. It's my first overclock and I'm new, so I'm worried I might have made a mistake. Someone could help me out.
Leaving the voltage in auto mode may cause it to rise excessively, especially if you're already adjusting it manually. The minimum level it can reach varies depending on the CPU.
