What causes my computer to freeze?
Hello everyone. I own an i3 4130 with 8GB RAM, DDR3, GTX 650, and 1GB H81M-K. It has a fake 400W power supply, and when playing games it freezes every few seconds. After about 1 to 2 hours the screen goes black and nothing happens until I restart. I ran a memory diagnostic and everything looked normal. I also switched the graphics card from GT730 to GTX 650 without any improvement. After installing new drivers and updating Windows, it still freezes. I thought the issue was related to the hard drive since it was nearly full, but that didn’t help. Recently I downloaded Code Mw3 and it runs smoothly at 60 FPS with ultra settings, but it freezes every 10 seconds when using lower settings. The thermal gel change didn’t fix the problem either. Could anyone clarify what might be causing this freezing? Maybe the fake power supply isn’t sufficient?
I mentioned it yourself: "fake 400w supply" means other components won't get enough power, which caused the freezes and shutdowns. Please replace that immediately or it could damage your house. Check this article for a suitable replacement: https://forums. You might also need to clean your chassis and fans, and change the CPU thermal paste.
Can you provide more details such as the manufacturer, model, wattage, age, and condition? Also, please share the make, model, and capacity of the drives along with their current status. Check the reliability history and event viewer for any error codes related to the freezes.
