What causes my computer to crash?
My computer freezes to a uniform solid color during certain games. It was this issue on R6 and Rogue Company, and now it happens again on my old machine.
New PC Specifications
Ryzen 5 3400g
Radeon 570
8gb DDR4
500w thermalsystem
ASRock B450M
240gb SSD, 1tb HDD, 240gb SSD
Could this be due to overheating? I haven’t checked the temperature, but using AMD Radeon overlay, under "Current Temperature" it spikes up to 80°C. I’m not sure if this is just the GPU or CPU, or an average reading. Since the same problem occurred on my previous PC, I replaced the GPU with a new one (Radeon 470), but it didn’t solve the issue. The only consistent parts between the two are the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
My GPU is brand new and recently updated.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Likely due to your PSU, could you tell us the model of the Thermaltake PSU and its age? You should have at least 600W~650W of power for the entire system when using an RX570.
A 550w is sufficient for an RX 570 setup, provided the unit is of good quality. Unfortunately, this thermaltake seems to be a subpar choice.
Thank you for the introduction, the power source seems to be a 500 watt 80+ Thermaltake (specifically:
Thermaltake Smart Series 500W SLI/CrossFire Ready Continuous Power ATX 12V V2.3 / EPS 12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply Haswell Ready PS-SPD-0500NPCWUS-W).
Thanks for the prompt reply, everyone. I need to acquire a new PSU.
I might be able to spend around $100, depending on what you consider a good budget.
This budget looks solid, offering a bit extra wattage beyond what you require. It's a quality unit with room for upgrades. The model is a Seasonic Focus Gold featuring Antec branding.
