The best experience varies with Linux versions; for a test, try Gentoo Linux. Ubuntu remains the most widely used.

You can discover how straightforward Windows is for getting your computer operational. I experimented with Linux Mint around a month ago and the display drivers caused issues. After switching to Windows 7, I found Linux offered valuable lessons such as compiling. I was really pleased when I successfully built some binaries.
