What aspects need improvement for this project? Architecture, Rendering, 3D Modeling, and Gaming Use
I constructed this in December 2015 with the intention to refresh it periodically, yet life events have made that goal unachievable. I’m satisfied with the outcome so far, but I’ve observed that newer titles are starting to struggle with low frame rates, they don’t meet the specs of the software I intend to run, and Windows refuses to permit an upgrade to version 11. Here’s its current condition:
CPU: Intel Core i5-13400F 2.5 GHz 10-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG R1 Universal 76 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme4 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 SATA Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive
Storage: Western Digital WD_BLACK 6 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 4 GB Video Card
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GS 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer
Monitor: Asus MX279H 27.0" 1920 x 1080 Monitor
I rely on Revit, Archicad, Rhino, Grasshopper, Vray, Unreal Engine with Lumen, and I play a range of games. My main concern isn’t about extremely high frame rates, but rather about stability and smooth performance. I’m open to upgrading the CPU (and motherboard), GPU, and RAM. Here’s an updated build plan. Budget is important, so I want to maximize value. What might I be overlooking? I’ve delved into research and need fresh perspectives.
Your build appears solid ^^ Here are some budget-friendly options to check out.

If you plan to replace the CPU in five years, the AM5 platform offers a suitable option. Cryorig will provide a Type A AM4 Upgrade Kit compatible with AM5 boards—simply place your request. The B650E board supports PCIe 5.0 SSDs and Wi-Fi 6E, featuring robust VRMs and fast RAM. You may consider upgrading the PSU if its warranty has expired, as the EVGA GS series isn’t particularly high quality compared to their standard G5/G6 models. A GPU with greater VRAM could be beneficial for more demanding projects.
