I really enjoyed elementary. The only drawback was its lack of compatibility with older computers, which is why I chose Linux to breathe new life into them.

It's a solid DE offering a neat appearance and smooth performance for new users, covering all essentials for simple tasks. However, it lacks enough flexibility and customization for my preferences. My primary setups use Arch with XFCE and Arch with Cinnamon; since I've changed distros frequently, Arch gives me the most freedom. Other Arch-based systems seem restrictive.

I've recently experimented with a lot of different distributions. I'm planning to write another post about my journey. I tried ElementaryOS this time, and it's fine—just one among countless Ubuntu versions. It's manageable, but I'd miss Cinnamon whenever I needed to tweak something small, like closing a window.

What sort of challenge is this? I am using nothing but Linux for the past 3 years.

os elementary feels great, I run it on my laptop, but actually I go with debian stretch paired with the pantheon interface. I really like debian more than the ubuntu base version. On my desktop though, I switch to arch.

I tested it in a VM but struggled to get started. It doesn't fit well with my current process. ElementaryOS seems to push users toward its own approach, which isn't ideal. I prefer Kubuntu for its flexibility. Their app store's "pay what you want" model would benefit from more adoption by Ubuntu and other distros.
