What are your thoughts on my planned build?
Hey there!
I’m planning my next build. Coming from the Czech Republic, I’ll be purchasing everything at Alza (it makes sense here, even if it’s not the cheapest option).
Could you please check the parts list?
Usage: 50/50 between work and gaming.
Gaming needs: Microsoft Flight Simulator, Snowrunner, plus some AAA titles. I have two monitors – one at 3440x1440 (primary), the other at 1440x2560 (for ongoing info, work communicators, Discord, Chrome, etc.).
Work requires a lot of Chrome tabs open with multiple profiles and some light editing (mainly Adobe products).
Gear:
- ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI – 265 $
- AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D – 430 $
- Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420 Black – 94 $
- Shadow Base 800 – 158 $
- Kingston FURY 64GB DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 Beast Black EXPO (KF560C30BBEK2-64) – 285 $
- ADATA XPG CORE REACTOR II VE 850W – 120 $
- Samsung 990 PRO 2TB – 208 $
- Shadow Wings 2 140mm PWM (2x) – 37 $ each (18.5 $ each)
Total so far: 1.597 $
I’ll keep MSI Trio 3080 for now and search for good deals on 4080/4080s. I’ll also retain the Kingston KC3000 2TB.
My main priorities are:
Silence
Temperature
Performance
I’m aiming for a PC that lasts about 5 years without another upgrade (except GPU drivers).
Concerns:
Memory – will it work? I need 64 GB at speeds of 30-36-36-76, but this item isn’t listed in the official support list with this motherboard. I’ve also seen issues with this MB, CPU, and 64 GB RAM under these conditions.
Recommendation:
- Would you suggest this model? Maybe
- This one should suffice? It’s 198 $, about 70 $ less.
Appreciate any advice!
The components listed in your build, aside from the RTX3080/KC3000, are accurate for a build.
Memory: They feature AMD's E.X.P.O technology;

Everything is set to go!
Motherboard: I’d aim for a more affordable option in the B650 range, as the Strix’s or ROG boards usually come with a higher price. You might also consider a matx board and reduce size by using a matx case, while opting for a 280mm/360mm AIO, in my opinion.
The X3d chips are designed for single-game performance with a focus on thread speed. For broader applications, the 7700x could be more suitable. A more powerful power supply unit might improve stability and allow future graphics upgrades. For quieter operation, options like the noctua NH-d15 NH-D15s or the new NH-D15 g2 are recommended. You don't require very strong cooling.
CPU - workload isn't too heavy on the CPU, 7800x3D works just fine and performs well in games...
Cooler - I've checked some tests with around 50 air+liquid coolers. This one (ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 420 Black) ranked among the top 10 for temperature control and also the top 3 for quiet operation. And as mentioned, silence is important. Also, Noctua air coolers are significantly more expensive than others.
🙁
Should I still consider Noctua?
Don't require a huge AIO but if it fits the case. Why not? It's one of the best options with excellent value. Considering even a 240 model would work, with oversized cooling and quiet operation is almost certain. 3x140mm fans would likely function at minimum RPM and be extremely quiet. Even a VRM fan can be adjusted to speed when using three in a single cable. The pump is among the quietest available, allowing full runtime for optimal idle performance and low usage temperatures. A unique VRM fan can reduce the need for additional case fans. Overall, it outperforms most air coolers.
Another advantage of liquid coolers is that radiator fans can replace many case fans, reducing their quantity compared to air coolers where more are needed for effectiveness.
