What are the recommended upgrades for a Solved HP Compaq 6500 Pro SFF PC?
Hello! I hope you don’t mind me sharing this on the forum—I’m not very comfortable with these discussions. A few weeks ago, I started using my first computer and thought about improving its performance for gaming or production. It’s an old HP Compaq 6500 with an Athlon II X2 CPU, just two cores, which makes it tough for video recording and other tasks. I currently have a GT1030 installed. I’m curious if it’s possible to upgrade to a Phenom II X4 or X6 motherboard. I’m not very familiar with the name, so sorry if I’m unclear. Additionally, I was wondering about suitable RAM options and whether aftermarket PSUs can fit in this setup. If anyone has any advice or knows the answer, please let me know! i wouldn't bother trying to upgrade this thing.
can't use 3rd party motherboards,
can't use 3rd party power supplies,
can only use PCIe powered GPUs...
one choice is to get a nicer 2.5" SSD to replace the old HD.
this might help speed up OS and application response a bit.
maybe start mowing some lawns or something until you can afford a modern system?
you should be able to use the "! Report" option at the bottom-left of your post and ask for it to be moved to the right forum.
I wouldn't bother trying to upgrade this device.
