I'm a regular consumer seeking solid performance. The 819.00 model suits light streaming needs. It should provide reliable use for some time. 256 GB storage fits my requirements.

Spec-wise, yes, a 512GB SSD would be better, but if you know 256GB is enough for your needs, then no need to fret.
It's really more a matter of VALUE. Specs vs Price. Aka, can you get the same or better specs in a different machine for less $$

The laptop you possess should suffice for your requirements. Should it have 256 gigabytes or can you opt for a lower capacity? Additionally, do you have any preference regarding the operating system? A budget-friendly ChromeBook would indeed provide durability and basic functionality for a long time.
