Hi!
I’m planning to purchase a new Windows laptop for my wife’s birthday. Here are the main needs...
- Standard apps, Office, browsing, etc.
- Touchscreen with a foldable design for tablet use
- Durable enough (especially the touchpad)
- Price ideally under $1,000 but with some flexibility
Any recommendations on models to consider? Good websites or retailers would be great too. Thanks!

If that's how you plan to use the laptop, I recommend Linux.
Linux Mint Cinnamon is the most similar to Windows and offers many customizable themes.
All office applications are free.
The typical choice for the best warranty is a general rule of thumb—AMD tends to be more affordable than Intel.
Avoid mixed CPU and GPU setups; Intel usually pairs with their own UHD graphics for an integrated approach.
For stronger graphics performance, go with Nvidia if you need more power.
If you prefer AMD, stick with it; otherwise, choose i-5 for Intel or Ryzen 5 for AMD.
To ensure speed and durability, skip Chrome, HP, or Dell.
Newegg is a reliable source, but Amazon provides greater variety.

This type of hybrid device offers great value for money, especially from brands like Lenovo.

Hey team. I got a Samsung Galaxy 360 2-in-1 today, and it's performing well. It has 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. Thanks for the tips!
