I recently played Bioshock Infinite for the first time and really enjoyed its narrative and mood. It perfectly captures the essence of a great game. If you're looking for titles with an outstanding story plus fun gameplay, here are my top picks: The Last of Us, Disco Elysium, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Black Mesa and the rest of the Half Life series are awesome. The first two modern Tomb Raider games (not Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it looks beautiful but gameplay and story is meh)

1. Deus Ex: Human Revolution offers great replay value; 4K display enhances the experience.
2. Halo: Reach 3 and Republic Commando provide engaging narratives with tough challenges.

No.3 was one of my top Xbox titles back then. It always gave me that satisfying rush when I dodged a droid’s head or chased those flying enemies. I loved every Halo game, but I never played any of the earlier ones either—just diving into Deus Ex from the start.

Black Mesa isn't a remaster of Half-Life. It's a separate game with its own story and mechanics.

DMC works fine, but for a slasher it feels a bit too predictable and simple compared to titles like Dark Souls or Nioh.

The original Deus Ex series has minimal connection to Human Revolution, making it ideal for exploring the franchise.

It's essentially Half Life 1 enhanced with the improved graphics from Half Life 2's physics system. The core narrative remains, but adjustments were made to story details and puzzles to fully leverage the higher visual fidelity.

I own several titles but right now I’m focusing on Alien: Isolation, Metro: 2033, and The Talos Principle. Half-Life and Portal are essential to play. My Steam library once held the original Deus Ex for about a decade, and I recently finished it after trying the "Revision" edition—though I didn’t enjoy the gameplay, even though the concept and writing were impressive.
