What a suitable motherboard/CPU pair for 4K video editing?
I'm searching for a new motherboard and CPU setup suited for 4K video editing. I mainly use DaVinci Resolve and play games occasionally. My current board is outdated, so I'm thinking about an upgrade soon because Windows 10 is no longer supported. Increasing RAM is another clear improvement to consider. I'm also looking into NVMe SSDs as an option. What would complement my existing system best?
My understanding of near is not specified. I do not have a defined location or budget. I am not seeking a motherboard purchase, but rather considering a CPU and RAM. My experience with a motherboard and CPU prior to now is unknown. The 2TB HDD and SDD storage device are mentioned, along with the Corsair rm850x power supply unit.
I use these terms lightly. I don’t care much about where I buy them or how much I spend yet. I’m just searching for specific items I might need. This year I bought a PSU, and the SSDs are Samsung Evo 870 and an older Seagate Barracuda 1TB. I’m looking for a motherboard and CPU with faster RAM that would fit well with my GPU. I previously had a Supermicro C7z170 0CE which stopped working recently. I’m based in Indiana. My budget is roughly between $600 and $800 if things go as planned. Still, it would be helpful to get some advice.

I was also thinking about it in the same way. It might be better to skip purchasing additional memory since RAM costs are rising rapidly. I recommend getting that SSD instead—it’s priced higher than others, but likely worth it, particularly for video editing. In a PCIe4 slot it will operate at that speed rather than its native PCIe5 rates. Still, it should perform better than most PCIe4 drives. Rumors suggest SSD prices might increase soon, which seems quite reasonable.
If you prefer, you can avoid buying the cooler since the CPU comes with a built-in one (unless you’d like an aftermarket option). Also, I don’t think it’s necessary to buy a new motherboard for your current CPU unless you’re curious about it.
