I was curious about the reaction to Windows 10 becoming free for Windows 8 and 7 users. I’m really looking forward to the upgrade, especially after hearing positive feedback from the Windows 10 preview. However, there’s a condition for Windows 7 users: you get one year to switch to Windows 10 at no cost, but after that, you’ll have to pay if you don’t. Do you think this is too much for Windows 7 users? Check the article here: http://news.yahoo.com/awesome-news-windo...32936.html

This one year applies to everyone. If you don’t upgrade during the first year, you’ll need to purchase the OS again. Yahoo keeps making the same mistakes.

It applies to all and is just right. If you don’t want to spend money to keep your system updated for a year, that’s on you. Not their responsibility.

The one-year free offer applies to Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users. Beyond that, a fee will apply. Even though some rumors circulated, it won’t be a subscription model—it’s a single payment similar to previous versions.

They say it's free, but if you get it for free you lose control over updates and changes. I prefer having the ability to manage updates myself and choose what I want. What if a bad update affects everyone? We wouldn't be able to remove it and would have to wait for Microsoft to fix it. Maybe I misunderstood, but I heard this from a trustworthy source.

If they admit you can't manage the updates, it could really shift your decision on moving from Windows 8.1 to 10.
