Hey there, new member! I understand you're just starting out here. If you accidentally break any rules or check too often, no worries—I’m sorry. Regarding your Windows 8 question, it sounds like your drive is running slow because of outdated research on hard drives and GPUs when setting up your first PC. You’re using a 750 Ti and a 5200 RPM drive, which should work fine now since you’re not overloading them. The issue might be with the system check during boot, but I’m not sure how to fix it. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? I’ve looked into many forums but haven’t found a clear solution yet. Mac users are rare here, so your experience is valuable. Thanks for reaching out and asking for help!

Many people tend to ignore adjusting the boot priority settings. When you open your UEFI BIOS and navigate to boot priorities or preferences, setting the primary drive to boot first can make a difference. Another option is to defragment the hard drive, which benefits all drives but is particularly useful for older ones you've used frequently. Ultimately, investing around $60 USD for an SSD—120GB should suffice for an OS installation—is a smart choice. This will speed up and optimize your system performance. The system check can also be turned off in the control panel, which may further improve boot times. Welcome to the forum!
