A few months back I built a fresh system but used a subpar PC case. Temperatures were high, and there was a noticeable chemical-like odor inside the case. After changing cases and temperatures dropped significantly—especially during gaming—no such smell remained. Recently, my PSU failed and I replaced it, but the odor has returned. The temperatures stayed consistent since the case swap, so nothing seems wrong. I can detect the smell near the CPU and motherboard, but not where the PSU is. Could it be related to the new components? Is it coming from the fresh parts or specifically from the CPU?

It seems you're asking about the meaning of "temps étaient haut," which is French for "the temperatures were high." To clarify, it's unclear what specific PSU, CPU, cooler, or GPU you're referring to. Could you provide more details so I can give a precise answer?

Before, with the old case, I noticed a strong odor when things got hot. Now, after upgrading, it's almost gone except during gaming. In summer, the PC reached about 60°C for the GPU and 60-64°C for the CPU, while in winter it was around 56°C. Previously, the smell was noticeable even at lower temperatures, likely due to higher heat. After replacing the PSU, the smell returned only when gaming, but the temperatures stayed consistent. When idle, the readings are stable. I’m still unsure if it’s just from the new PSU or if it’s coming from the CPU or motherboard. Since the build is only a few months old, I think the smell might be from the new components. The temperatures look fine, but I’d like to know if this is something to worry about.

70°C on the CPU works just fine. The same applies to 80°C on the GPU. Both values stay well within their thermal limits. Lower temperatures are better, but they weren’t an issue here. You might want to run a quick test to pinpoint the source of any odor.

That's why I started this thread—I already ran a quick check and it's coming from the top, near the CPU and MOBO. The PSU is also quite old, having blown recently. Also, the GPU was running at around 80°C during games before I upgraded the case, now it's only about 60°C.

Even better. As I mentioned in the previous discussion, perhaps the technicians who reassembled your PC did it right this time. We’re not sure where the CPU and GPU are located. What’s the case? Do you have a picture? In today’s PCs, the CPU is usually at the top, the GPU in the middle, and the PSU at the bottom. But you haven’t made it clear enough.

The PC case features six fans: three intake and two top exhausts, plus one rear exhaust. You can view images from all angles on the provided links.

Ask the repair shop for confirmation they didn’t damage your PC with aerosol cleaner. Canned air includes a bitterant to prevent inhalation.
