A few weeks ago I observed a problem with the "A" key on my old keyboard—it would sometimes fail to register or even register it multiple times. I thought the issue was due to the keyboard aging, so I decided to replace it.

I purchased a new mechanical keyboard, but the same problem persisted. I also tried switching USB ports on my PC, yet it didn’t solve the issue. Only the "A" key was affected; the rest functioned normally.

Any suggestions on what could be causing this and how to resolve it?

What you mention resembles a situation where the A key has some dirt affecting its contact occasionally. This shouldn't occur with a brand new keyboard, though it could be due to chance. As Ralston18 suggests, "Test the keyboards on another known working computer." If both keyboards share the same problem (which might be hard to notice if it changes), then it's possible that many keyboards can be opened and their key contacts cleaned. If you need guidance on how to proceed, feel free to reply here.
